Welcome to Sharon Lee Chapman Photography
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sharon Lee Chapman and my goal is to provide unique images to the horse racing industry, something different and unique to the regular images seen so often in editorial channels. Images that tell a story, capture the emotion and excitement of horse racing and showcase the beauty of the Thoroughbred. In 2011, I was fortunate to win the Quill Award for News Photograph of the year with "that" picture of "that horse", Banna Strand when he famously jumped into the crowd at the Warrnambool Carnival.
More recently, I have been putting together "The Winx Series" a collection of images of World Champion "Winx", who has just retired after her 33rd straight victory, 25 at Group 1 Level. The images from Royal Randwick, Rosehill and behind the scenes imagery from Altona Beach, Botany Bay, Rosehill Pool and unique imagery of Winx going through the sales ring at Magic Millions. These images are available via my website via my "Winx Series" and a number of other galleries.
Some of my clients include New Zealand Marketing, Aushorse, Magic Millions, Inglis, New Zealand Bloodstock, John Salanitri Racing Stables, Ciaron Maher Racing, Robbie Griffiths Racing, Newgate Farm, Widden Stud, Newhaven Park, Sun Stud, Swettenham Stud, Armidale Stud. I also regularly provide images to Gallop Magazine. With my role as head photographer for Ladies In Racing Magazine, I have been fortunate enough to cover many major international meetings including the Dubai World Cup, Hong Kong Longines International, the Singapore Cup, the Durban July in South Africa, the NZ Karaka Millions, and the famous Saratoga Carnival in the US.
More recently my work from Birdsville featured on both CNN and Sports Illustrated New York.
The past few years I have been regularly attending some of the biggest Race Carnivals in the world, including Royal Ascot, Cheltenham Jumps Festival, The Dubai World Cup, Hong Kong International, Singapore Cup, Saratoga and recently photographed Triple Crown Winner, American Pharoah winning the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park.
I also provide unique packages to trainers capturing trackwork, barrier trials, beach work and staff portraits and present these in a slideshow format for editorial use on websites and facebook pages.
After several successful exhibitions including "The Beauty of The Thoroughbred" at the World Trade Centre in 2016, I now have several retail outlets including Paragon Blue in Rye, showcasing my Fine Art Print Range.
